Step into Dear John's, a true gem in Culver City, California, where culinary dreams meet a distinctive old Hollywood ambiance. This swanky restaurant is more than just a dining destination—it's a celebration of gourmet steakhouse cuisine that will captivate your senses.

As you walk through the door, the dimly lit surroundings envelop you in an intimate embrace, reminiscent of a classic jazz club. The rich wooden accents and plush seating invite you to unwind as you anticipate an unforgettable meal. The dining environment strikes the perfect balance between elegance and comfort, making it ideal for both romantic dinners and lively gatherings with friends.

Dear John's menu showcases a delightful array of offerings that highlight upscale steakhouse standards with a creative twist. Start your culinary adventure with the Crab Cake, perfectly paired with a zesty remoulade for just $28, or indulge in the luxurious JLC’s Bougie Tots, a playful blend of caviar and tater tots for $34. The Steak Tartare is a standout at $24, boasting an egg yolk fritter and everything cracker that adds a textural crunch to each bite. And don't forget the anticipated Caesar Salad for Two, prepared tableside, which transforms this classic dish into an interactive experience that’s as engaging as it is tasty.

For the main event, meat lovers will find solace in the perfectly grilled ribeye steak, which is often lauded in reviews for its immaculate seasoning and tenderness that simply melts in your mouth. If you're in the mood for something a bit different, the Rack of Lamb promises robust flavor that will leave you yearning for more. Complement your meal with delectable sides such as the mouthwatering German Potatoes and the fresh, zesty Broccolini, both priced at $11.

Every visit to Dear John’s is filled with positive experiences, as shared by frequent diners. One patron, Aaron Mayfield, raves about how the Dine LA special he indulged in was worth every penny, highlighting the chef's thoughtful flavor combinations. Similarly, Iris Schwimmer-Butler couldn't keep quiet about the flawless cooking of both the steak and the rack of lamb, insisting that the bread pudding is a must-try dessert you shouldn’t miss.

However, while the food dazzles, not every experience is flawless. Some guests have noted inconsistencies in service, but this seems to be an anomaly rather than the norm. Many, like Stefanie Betti, have praised their bartenders for being exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Whether you're in for a quick drink at the bar or a full-course meal, Dear John's manages to consistently deliver both quality and charm. So treat yourself to an evening filled with delicious food, expertly crafted cocktails like the Old Hemingway, and an atmosphere that brings a piece of old Hollywood back to life. Your table awaits at 11208 Culver Blvd—where every meal becomes an enchanting culinary journey.

We just left Dear John’s. My first time dining there. We had the Dine LA special for 65 a person. The quality was definitely worth the price. The chef put a lot of thought into the flavor for the entrees. The desserts were also amazing. Will definitely return.

Dear John’s used to be my favorite restaurant in all of LA. It’s where I loved taking people and sitting and eating at the bar. The food is absolutely excellent and the steak and drinks are amazing. That being said yesterday when I sat at the bar at dinner I had a bartender/ server that left a really bad experience with me and has in the past. He has served me in the past and always without fail will tell me I’m ordering too many sides. He says this in such a condescending way and will ask if we plan on taking leftovers home and says I should just choose 2 sides. it’s really annoying that he says it in such a way as if he knows we should order less. I would have appreciated it if he would’ve said it in a more professional way or mentioned the size of the container but he says it in a way of like “that’s enough sides for you”. In addition this last time the server spoke and pointed and was talking really unprofessionally about my partner and I. He didn’t realize I too spoke Spanish and could completely understand that he was talking about me and my partner right in front of us! While he was making our drinks! My partner does not speak Spanish but they were feeling uncomfortable because they could see the bartender and another server pointing at us and talking about us. I definitely heard and understood exactly what he said and it was appalling that he could think it was fine to say any of this especially because he spoke Spanish and assumed I didn’t. I did say something to him right after we paid the bill in Spanish and both my partner and I saw the total shock in his face. He asked if I spoke Spanish or was just practicing and I just stated that I was Mexican and I left after that. I’m not feeling great about returning but I may just have to make sure I get a different server next time.

A not so hidden secret. Food was amazing. From the steaks to the rack of Lamb, everything was cooked to perfection! Sides were also delicious. German potatoes and Broccolini delicious. Do not miss the bread pudding. Ceasar Salad was tossed tableside. Yummy dinner! I will be back!

Delicious food and great service. Definitely recommend experiencing the Caesar Salad as they prepare it in front of you! The steak was cooked to perfection and the sides were tasty. The ambiance was like an old jazz club and I enjoyed the cocktail (Old Hemingway) and the red wine that was recommended.

Had a couple drinks at the bar with a shareable plate. Drinks were excellent. Overall ambiance is old Hollywood and very low lighting. Will be returning!

Wr had dinner with some friends at the bar. Our bartender was Elena and she was fantastic from the moment we sat down. She makes excellent martinis and Vespers, and was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the history of the restaurant. We will definitely be back to see her again soon!

Decent food at decent prices for a birthday dinner. 3 of us shared the ribeye steak, fish main, wedge salad, French onion soup and garlic bread. French onion soup and fish main were the stand outs for me. Service was on point and it's your classic steakhouse environment with dimly lit surroundings.
